Sherman Way is an adaptive reuse project transforming an existing four-story office and retail building into a modern self-storage facility. The conversion preserves the building’s original height and structural framework while reimagining the interior for household goods storage. The scope includes a full interior demolition of existing partitions, along with a strategic floor area expansion achieved through the infill of the internal courtyard and existing elevator shaft. Site improvements encompass a new detached trash enclosure, upgraded paving, and fresh landscaping to enhance the property’s overall presence and functionality. By repurposing an established commercial structure, Sherman Way exemplifies a sustainable approach to development – extending the life of existing infrastructure while delivering a purpose-built facility tailored to the evolving needs of the Van Nuys community.
